Adding and editing products
Every product opens in the product editor. The left column holds the content in six tabs: Info, Categories, Attributes, Variants, Pricing and Discovery. The right column holds the publishing controls (Publication status, with the product's versions when it has any, Channels and Tags) and stays visible while you scroll.
Changes across every tab are saved together with the Save button of the Unsaved changes bar at the bottom of the screen. To open a product, click it in Catalog > Catalog > Products. The tab you're on is part of the page address, so a link you share opens on the same tab.
Add a product
Steps
- In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Catalog > Products.
- Click Add product. The editor opens empty.
- Enter the Title. It's the only required field: the Unsaved changes bar appears as soon as there is one.
- Optional: enter a SKU. If you leave it blank, a unique SKU is generated from the title when you save.
- Optional: write the Description and fill in the other fields of the Info tab.
- Click Save.
Nucleo creates the product and opens it. Images, categories, variants and price lists need a saved product, so fill them in after this first save.
Fill in the Info tab
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Title | The product name. |
| Description | A rich-text editor. Switch to the HTML source with the code icon when you need it. |
| SKU | Copy it with the copy icon, or click the pencil to rename it. Press Enter to save the new SKU, or Esc to cancel. The SKU must stay unique. |
| System attributes such as Product type and Brand | The attributes flagged Visible in product page, side by side. To create a new value, type it and pick Create with the value. |
| Media | The product's photos. See Manage product photos. |
| Compliance & customs | HS code and Country of origin, used as defaults by every variant. |
| SEO | The Meta title and Meta description for search engines and channels, with a preview of the search listing. See SEO. |
The product's Activity sits below the Info tab. See Product history.
While you write, Atomo reads the title and description and suggests values right under the fields it concerns. Click Use (or Replace with when the field already has a different value), or dismiss the suggestion with its ×.
Write or rewrite the description with AI
Steps
- In the Info tab, click the AI icon of the Description editor (Write with AI, or Rewrite with AI when there's already text).
- Optional: if there's already a description, click a preset: Shorten, Expand, More formal or Fix grammar. The rewrite starts at once.
- Otherwise, describe what you want in the text box, for example
friendly tone, highlight key features, bullet list of materials, and click Write or Rewrite.
Atomo uses the title, the fields you've already filled in (even if not yet saved) and the current description. The result replaces the text in the editor; nothing is saved until you click Save. To go back, press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows).
Manage product photos
Steps
- Open a saved product. The Media block is in the Info tab.
- Do any of the following:
- To add photos, drag them onto the block, or click Upload new and pick the files. A window lets you write a Description (alt text) for each image, which you can leave empty, and then click Upload with the number of images.
- To change the order, drag a photo to a new position. The first photo is the cover.
- To describe a photo already in the gallery, click its Alt text button, write the Description (alt text) and click Save.
- To remove a photo, click its remove icon and confirm with Remove.
You can upload JPG, PNG and WebP files, up to 10 MB each and up to 50 files at a time. Photo changes are saved immediately; they don't wait for the Save button. Screen readers and search engines read the image description.
Fill in the other tabs
| Tab | What you do there |
|---|---|
| Categories | Tick the categories the product belongs to in the tree, with Atomo's suggestions, and pick its Google category for shopping feeds. See Categories. Below, Position in categories makes the product a master pin. See Master pins. |
| Attributes | Pick the attribute set and fill one control per attribute; required ones are marked. See Fill in a product's attributes. |
| Variants | Generate and manage the variants, and define the product's group. See Variants and groups. |
| Pricing | Read-only: every price list, with the product's price and where it comes from (Rule, Override, Price, Not priced or Not in list). Click a list to edit it. See Price lists. |
| Discovery | What Nucleo adds to what you entered: what it reads in the photos and what it suggests next to the product. See The Discovery tab. |
Use the Discovery tab
The Discovery tab holds what Nucleo adds to the data you entered. Everything you fill in by hand is in the other tabs: the SEO at the bottom of Info, the master pin in Categories. The tab has two blocks:
| Block | What it shows or does |
|---|---|
| Read from the images | What Atomo sees in the product's photos: Garment colors, Recognized values that agree with the record or are marked to review, Details seen · no attribute holds them, and a Generated description. It never changes your data: to use a value, set it in the Attributes tab. |
| Recommendations | One column for Comparison, the alternatives, and one for Correlation, what goes with it. Each says which widget answers (Answered by:), shows the first suggestions, and links to Try in playground. See Recommendation widgets. |
Under each column, This product's exceptions correct the result for this one product: Hand-picked products, up to 24, and products Never shown, up to 200. When you hand-pick at least one product, only the ones you picked appear, in your order. Click the column's Save to keep the exceptions, or Undo changes to drop them.
Save or discard your edits
Edits made in any tab (including variant rows, barcodes, categories, the group rule, publishing and tags) are saved together.
Steps
- Make your changes in one or more tabs.
- In the Unsaved changes bar at the bottom of the screen, click Save, or press ⌘S (Ctrl+S on Windows). Click Discard to throw the changes away.
Saving never blocks you over empty required attributes, but it tells you which ones are still empty, for example Saved — 2 required attributes still empty: Material, Season. If a field can't be saved, the error appears under the field, and what wasn't saved stays in the form.
Move to the previous or next product
The arrows at the right end of the page header move through the list you opened the product from, with its filters and its order. At the edge of a page they load the next or previous page of the list. You can also press [ and ].
If you have unsaved changes, you stay on the product and the Unsaved changes bar shakes: save or discard first.
Copy the link, duplicate or delete a product
Steps
- Open the product and click More actions in the page header.
- Do one of the following:
- Click Copy link to copy the address of the product.
- Click Duplicate product. The copy opens as soon as it's ready.
- Click Delete product, and then confirm with Delete product.
The copy is titled with (copy) at the end, gets a new SKU ending in -copy, starts in Draft and isn't assigned to any channel. It keeps the variants, prices, stock, tags, attributes, translations, SEO and categories of the original, with barcodes cleared. Photos aren't copied.
Considerations for the product editor
- Every field can be edited, also the ones an external data source wrote: the source overwrites the change at its next sync. See Data from other systems.
- Viewers see every tab read-only.
- The avatars next to More actions show who else has the product open; a yellow dot means that person has unsaved changes. See See who else is on the page.
- If the product changes while you're editing it, for example because Atomo or a colleague saved it, a notice tells you. Click Keep my changes to go on with yours, which save only the fields you touched, or Load new values to see the new ones.
- Switching View as to a channel or a language changes what the editor edits. See Channel overrides and Languages and translations.
