Workspace settings

General is the first tab of Catalog data. It holds the foundational settings that every other part of the catalog inherits, the permissions that apply to editors across the whole workspace, and the demo mode for stores whose storefront isn't connected yet.

To open it, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, and then click the General tab. Owners and admins see all three panels: Workspace defaults, Feature access and Demo mode. Each panel saves on its own: the Unsaved changes bar shows the name of the panel you're about to save.

Set the workspace defaults

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, and then click the General tab.
  2. Under Workspace defaults, set the fields you need.
  3. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.
FieldOptionsWhat it does
Weight unitGrams (g), Kilograms (kg), Pounds (lb), Ounces (oz)The unit new variants get when you don't choose one. New variants start without a weight until you enter it.
Default currencyYour workspace currenciesPreselected when a new price list is created. Each list then keeps its own currency.
Note
The default language isn't set here: it's the Default language in Localization. See Change the default language. Markets and their countries belong to each channel's integration, such as your Shopify store.

Control feature access

Feature access switches sensitive actions on or off for the whole workspace. They apply to editors: owners and admins always keep full access. Only owners and admins see this panel.

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, and then click the General tab.
  2. Under Feature access, turn each switch on or off.
  3. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.
SwitchWhen it's off
Manual price editingEditors can't add products to a price list or remove them, and can't import prices. Turn it off when prices are imported from an ERP and must stay untouched.
SEO editingThe product SEO fields are read-only for editors.
Product creationEditors don't see Add product and can't duplicate products. Spreadsheet imports are also closed to them, because an import can create products.
Product deletionEditors can't delete products, one by one or in bulk.
Tip
If a pricing, SEO or product-creation control is missing or read-only for someone on the team, check these switches before reviewing their role.
Note
Viewers can't change anything, whatever these switches say. Roles are managed for the whole company; see Roles and permissions.

Turn demo mode on or off

Demo mode is for a store whose storefront isn't connected to Nucleo yet. It simulates the storefront signal, meaning sessions, searches and carts, from the orders already imported, so Shoppers and the behavior profiles have something to show. Everything it generates is marked as simulated.

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, and then click the General tab.
  2. Under Demo mode, turn the Demo mode switch on or off.
  3. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.

When you turn it on, the simulated signal is generated in the background; it takes about a minute. Open Shoppers > Signal to see it arrive. The panel then reads On — the simulated signal is visible in Shoppers › Signal.

Caution
Turning demo mode off removes every simulated session, search and cart. Turn it off once your real storefront is connected. See Storefront signal.
Note
Owners and admins can switch demo mode on and off.

Manage code types

Code types lists the kinds of code your products and variants can carry. Standard types follow their international format and are checked as you type; you add your own for the other systems you use, such as an ERP code. Variant barcodes use these types. See Edit barcodes.

Standard typeUsed onOne product per code
SKUProducts and variantsYes
Model codeProductsNo
EAN, UPC, GTIN, ISBN, ASINVariantsYes
Barcode, shown as Custom on variantsVariantsYes

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, and then click the Code types tab.
  2. Click Add type.
  3. Enter the Name, for example ERP code.
  4. Under Used on, pick Products, Variants or Products and variants.
  5. Keep One product per code on if the same code can't belong to two products.
  6. Click Add type.

The list marks each type as Standard or Yours. To delete one of yours, click its delete icon and confirm with Delete.

Note
Standard types can't be deleted, and a name already used by another type, standard or yours, can't be reused. A type of yours can't be deleted while products still have codes of that type.
