Attribute sets

An attribute set bundles the attributes a family of products needs: a footwear set and an apparel set will differ. Each product picks one set, and the product editor shows one control per attribute of that set. Editing a set changes every product that uses it.

To open them, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, and then click the Attribute sets tab. The list shows each set with its attributes, the variant axes in bold, and its number of products. The Variant SKU pattern of the workspace is on the same page.

Add or edit an attribute set

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, and then click the Attribute sets tab.
  2. Click Add set, or click an existing set to edit it. A panel opens: Create attribute set, or Edit with the set's name.
  3. Enter the Set name, for example Men's Shoes.
  4. In the Library column on the left, find attributes with the filter and click + to add them to the set.
  5. In the column on the right, drag attributes into the order you want them to appear on the product, and use the minus button to remove one.
  6. Click Save. It's available once the set has a name and at least one attribute.

Mark variant axes

A variant axis is an attribute whose values create variants, such as size. Axes drive variant generation, and are managed in the product's Variants tab rather than its Attributes tab.

Only Dropdown, Multi-select and Swatch attributes can be variant axes.

Steps

  1. Open the attribute set.
  2. In the column of the set's attributes, click Variant on the attribute to mark it as a variant axis. It's listed under Variant axes at the bottom of the panel. Click it again to remove the mark.
  3. Click Save.

Set the variant SKU pattern

The Variant SKU pattern decides how new variant SKUs are built: the product's SKU (Master SKU) followed by one segment per variant axis (Variant axis value).

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data, click the Attribute sets tab, and find Variant SKU pattern.
  2. Under Separator, pick Underscore · _, Hyphen · -, Dot · ., Slash · / or No separator.
  3. Under Casing, pick As entered, UPPERCASE or lowercase. It applies to every axis value.
  4. Check the Live preview.
  5. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.

The pattern applies to variants generated from then on. Existing variant SKUs keep their value; edit them in the product's Variants tab if needed.

Fill in a product's attributes

Steps

  1. Open the product and click the Attributes tab.
  2. Under Attribute set, pick the set. If the set you need doesn't exist, click Manage attributes to open the Catalog settings and create it.
  3. Under Attribute values, fill in one control per attribute. Required ones are marked with an asterisk.
  4. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.

While you work, Atomo reads the title and description and marks the values it proposes on the fields they concern. Take them one by one with Use or Replace with, all at once with Take all of them, or drop them with Ignore.

Note
The attribute set is shared by every channel, so it can't be changed in a channel view. The values of each attribute can differ per channel. See Channel overrides.

Delete an attribute set

Steps

  1. Open the attribute set.
  2. At the bottom of the panel, click Delete, and then confirm with Delete set.
Note
A set that is still used by products can't be deleted: Nucleo tells you how many products still reference it. Move those products to another set first, for example with an import.

Considerations for attribute sets

  • Required attributes of the set drive the completeness score, so the team can see what's still missing. See Read completeness.
  • The Enrichment queue shows gaps per attribute and per set, and proposes the missing values. See Filling missing attributes.
  • The product list can be filtered by Attribute set.
