Sales channels and publishing

The publishing controls sit in the right column of the product editor and answer one question: where is this product meant to be live? They hold the Publication status, the Channels with their dates, and the product's Tags.

Publishing changes are saved with the rest of the product, from the Unsaved changes bar.

Set the publication status

Steps

  1. Open the product in the Global view.
  2. Under Publication status, click Active, Draft or Archived.
  3. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.
StatusMeaning
ActiveThe product is ready to sell.
DraftThe product is being prepared. New and duplicated products start here.
ArchivedThe product is retired. Use it for products you no longer sell but want to keep.
Note
In a channel view the status is shown for that channel but can't be changed there. Change it on Global.
Tip
When the product has versions, the Publication status card also holds the Version menu. See Product versions.

Choose a product's channels

The Channels card lists one row per sales channel, with a switch. The counter next to the title, such as 2/3, shows on how many channels the product is published out of the channels you have. The dot of each row reads Live on this channel or Not published on this channel.

Steps

  1. Open the product.
  2. Under Channels, turn the switch of each channel on or off.
  3. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.
Note
The switch records in Nucleo which channels the product belongs to. Channel-aware features read it, such as the Published products count on Home and the products site search treats as available on a channel.

Schedule when a product goes live or retires

Steps

  1. Under Channels, click the calendar icon of the channel.
  2. Set Publish on, Unpublish on, or both. Leave Unpublish on empty for an open-ended window.
  3. Click Save in the popover. The row shows Scheduled · and Until · badges with the dates.
  4. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.

To remove the dates, open the calendar again and click Clear all.

Tip
Use the window for launches and capsules: the product counts as available on the channel only between the two dates.

Tag a product

Steps

  1. Under Tags, click Add tag.
  2. Type in Search or create a tag… and pick an existing tag, or create a new one.
  3. To remove a tag, click its ×.
  4. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.

Tags are free-form labels. Suggestions come from the tags already used across your catalog.
