Reading the storefront signal
Signal tells you whether your storefront is sending its events to Nucleo, and what they say: the path from view to purchase, what Shopify reported from its server, consent, products Nucleo couldn't recognize, and what shoppers type in your search box.
You find it in Catalog > Shoppers > Signal. You need the Owner, Admin or Editor role.
Check whether events are arriving
If nothing has arrived yet, the page shows Start collecting storefront signal with three steps: create an installation, paste its snippet into your theme and allow your domain, then visit the store and accept cookies. Click Open Installations to start, or follow Event tracking.
Once events arrive, the status at the top reads Receiving if an event arrived in the last 24 hours, or Quiet otherwise, with the time of the last event and the events stored in total. In demo mode it reads Simulated. The cards below sum up the signal:
| Card | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Events, last 7 days | Events stored in the last seven days, and in the last 30. |
| Visitors active, 7 days | Visitors seen in the last seven days, and in total. |
| Identified visitors | Visitors tied to a customer, by login or at checkout as confirmed by Shopify, and their share of all visitors. |
| Abandoned carts, 30 days | Carts left without buying, with their value, next to open carts, carts in checkout and converted carts. |
Read the signal panels
| Panel | What it shows |
|---|---|
| From view to purchase, last 30 days | Product views, Added to cart, Checkout started and Purchased, each as a share of the step before. A drop between views and carts points at the product page; between carts and checkout, at price or shipping; between checkout and purchase, at the checkout itself. |
| Server-side facts (Shopify) | What Shopify sent from its own server in the last seven days: orders, checkouts, carts, visitors stitched to a customer at checkout, and failed or stuck messages, with whether the webhooks are Subscribed and when the last one arrived. |
| What they did, last 7 days | One row per kind of event. |
| Events per day, last 30 days | One bar per day, empty days included. A gap often means a theme change dropped the snippet, or the consent banner stopped asking. |
| Consent | Shoppers who Granted, Denied or Revoked consent, and the uptake. Those who refuse leave no record, only an anonymous count. |
| Unmapped references | Products seen on the storefront that Nucleo couldn't match to your catalog, and their share of the events that name a product. Their events are kept but teach nothing until the reference is fixed. |
| Seen a lot, bought little, last 30 days | The 20 products most viewed, with Views, Added to cart, Bought and Bought / viewed. Click one to open it. |
| What shoppers type | The 20 most typed searches in the last seven days, as written, and how many found No results. |
| Installations | Each connected storefront, its last event and how many events were Rejected. Click Manage to open Catalog > Settings > Search > Installations. |
| Profiles | How many customer profiles also carry what they looked at, not only what they bought. |
| Privacy requests | Only for Owners and Admins: the data requests and shop erasures Shopify sent. See Privacy requests. |
Preview Signal with demo mode
If your storefront isn't connected yet, demo mode simulates the storefront signal (sessions, searches and carts) from the orders already imported, so Signal and the profiles have something to show. Everything it generates is marked as simulated.
Steps
- In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings > Catalog data > General.
- In the Demo mode panel, turn the Demo mode switch on.
- Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.
- Go to Catalog > Shoppers > Signal. If the simulated signal isn't there yet, click Generate the sample signal. It takes about a minute, and the page refreshes on its own.
A Demo mode message and a Simulated badge mark the page; Open settings takes you back to the switch. The simulated signal is refreshed every night from your latest orders. When your real storefront is connected, turn demo mode off: everything simulated is removed. The full setting is described in Turn demo mode on or off.
Considerations for Signal
- Nothing is stored for a shopper who hasn't granted consent.
- What shoppers type shows what your storefront's own search box received. Searches through Nucleo are in Queries. Searches that look like personal data, such as an email address or a phone number, are withheld: the event is kept, the words are not.
- If checkouts and purchases are missing, check that Accept Shopify Web Pixel events is on in your installation.
- If Server-side facts (Shopify) says the store isn't connected yet, connect the Shopify webhooks.
