The asset page

Every file in the Library has a page of its own. It's where you describe the file for your team and your channels, link it to the products it shows, and find everything you need to use it elsewhere.

To open it, double-click a file in the Library, or hover over it and click the open icon. Editing needs the Editor role or higher: for Viewers, the page is read-only.

Read the asset page

Above the title, the path takes you back to the Library and to the folder the file is in. The title is the asset's title; when it differs from the original file name, the file name appears in small type below it. On the right, Share opens the share dialog, and More actions holds Delete.

The preview stays on the left while you scroll: the image, or for a video a player that shows its first frame before you press play, with a Video badge and the duration. On the right, the page has three tabs:

TabWhat it holds
InfoEditorial (title, description, alt text), Tags, Linked SKU and Activity.
DeliveryThe URL of every delivery preset and a custom rendition builder. See Delivery presets and renditions.
Metadata and rightsThe metadata read from the file, Rights & licensing, and additional fields. See Rights and metadata.
Note
The Activity card isn't working yet: it doesn't record what happens to the file, and notes you write there aren't saved. To keep information about a file, use its Description.

Edit the title, description and alt text

Steps

  1. Open the asset page and stay on the Info tab.
  2. In Editorial, click the field you want to change:
    1. Title: the name your team sees in the Library.
    2. Description: where and how the file is used.
    3. Alt text: a description of the image for screen readers, used for accessibility on your storefront.
  3. Type the new text.
  4. Click outside the field, or press Enter in Title or Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows) in the other two. To discard your change, press Esc.

The change is saved as soon as you leave the field, and a message confirms it, such as Title updated.

Note
Editorial copy is kept in one language, the file's own. If you choose another language in View in at the top of the page, the fields appear empty and what you type there isn't saved. See Viewing as a channel or a language.

Add or remove tags

Steps

  1. Open the asset page and stay on the Info tab.
  2. In Tags, click Add tag.
  3. In Search or create a tag…, start typing, and then do one of the following:
    1. Click an existing tag to add it.
    2. If the tag doesn't exist yet, click Create followed by the text you typed. The tag is created and added.
  4. To remove a tag, click the cross next to it.
Note
Tags are shared by the whole Library: a tag you create is available on every other file. The Library search doesn't look at tags.

Download an asset

Do one of the following:

  • In the Library, right-click the file and click Download. You get the original file.
  • On the asset page, click the Delivery tab and open or copy the URL of Original master, or of any other preset for a resized version.
  • To download several files, select them in the Library and click Download in the bar.

Delete an asset

Steps

  1. Open the asset page.
  2. Click More actions, and then click Delete.
  3. Click Move to Trash to confirm.

You go back to the Library. You can restore the file from the Trash for 30 days. See Delete and restore files.
