Connecting Shopify

Shopify connects through the Nucleo app for Shopify, not with a generic form. You enter your store's domain in Nucleo, install the app on the store, and the connection turns active on its own, with its sales channel ready in Catalog.

You need the owner or admin role in Catalog, and permission to install apps on the Shopify store.

Connect your Shopify store

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings, and then click Connections.
  2. In the Library, click Add on Shopify. The Connect Shopify window opens at Step 1 of 3 · Store domain.
  3. In Shopify store domain, enter the .myshopify.com address of your store, for example your-store.myshopify.com. You find it in Shopify admin under Settings > Domains.
  4. Click Continue. The window moves to Step 2 of 3 · Install the app.
  5. Click Install the app on Shopify. Shopify opens in a new tab.
  6. In Shopify, install the Nucleo app on the store and connect it from the app page.
  7. Go back to Nucleo. The window shows Pending — waiting for the store to install and connect the app… and checks every few seconds.

When the store connects, the window moves to Step 3 of 3 · Connected and tells you the Shopify connector and its sales channel are ready. Click Done.

Note
If the window says the install link is generated by the Nucleo team, install the Nucleo app from the link you receive from your Nucleo contact, then click Connect in the app.

Confirm the shop is yours

Sometimes a connected store needs one more step: a red banner, Confirm this shop is yours, appears at the top of Connections and of the Shopify connection. Until you confirm, Nucleo receives no orders or customers from the store and sends it nothing.

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Settings, and then click Connections.
  2. In the banner, check the Shop name, Shop email and Domain.
  3. If they're your store's, click Confirm this shop is yours.

A message confirms that data starts flowing. If the details aren't your store's, don't confirm and contact Nucleo support.

Resume or cancel a pending connection

If you close the window before the store connects, the request stays in Connected as Pending — waiting for the app on your store, with the date the request expires.

  • Click Resume on the row to reopen the window and wait for the app.
  • In the window, click Cancel request to drop the request and start again.

Learn what the connection does

  • Nucleo reads your Shopify orders. They feed Home, the sales figures of Inventory, the returns behind Enrichment, merchandising signals and customer profiles. Home > Connections shows how many orders were read and when.
  • Your store's locations appear in Catalog > Settings > Catalog data > Locations with Shopify as their source.
  • A Shopify sales channel appears in View as and in the Channels card of every product, so you can prepare overrides and publication for it.
  • Your Shopify markets, products, collections, prices, stock, customers and order history come into Nucleo when you run the Shopify setup. See Setting up Shopify.
Note
By default Nucleo only reads your store; products, collections, prices and stock are sent to Shopify only for the flows you set to write. See Choose who updates whom. The order you publish in merchandising sorts the matching Shopify collection when collections are set to write. Search and recommendations are configured in Nucleo and don't reach the Shopify storefront yet.

Track your storefront

Searches, product views, carts and orders from your storefront reach Nucleo through an installation of the Nucleo snippet, set up in Catalog > Settings > Search > Installations. See Event tracking and Storefront signal.
