Marketing segments

A segment is a group of contacts that Brain computes from its own data and keeps in sync with a list of your email marketing tool, Klaviyo today. Your campaigns can then target people by what Brain knows about them, without exporting files. Today Brain offers the Clients segment: the contacts of companies tagged Client, with a valid email, not archived and not candidates.

You find segments under Brain > Marketing > Segments. They need Klaviyo connected in Connections.

Read your segments

Brain segments lists each segment with how many contacts it has, the list it is linked to in your email marketing tool and when it was last synced. The list is created at the first sync, under a name that starts with Nucleo ·.

Lists and segments in the email marketing tool, below, shows the lists and segments read from Klaviyo, with their Type, Tool, number of Profiles and ID. They are read again every night.

Sync a segment now

Brain syncs every segment each night: new members are added to the list, and those who no longer belong are removed. To do it right away:

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Brain > Marketing > Segments.
  2. On the segment's row, click Sync now.

A message tells you how many contacts were added and removed.

Use a segment in Klaviyo

In Klaviyo, build a segment with the condition is in list and pick the list Brain created, whose name starts with Nucleo ·. Campaigns sent to that segment reach the people Brain counts in it.

Considerations for segments

  • Brain never changes anyone's email consent: Klaviyo still decides who can receive marketing emails, by its own rules.
  • Klaviyo is billed by active profiles, so for the Clients segment Brain adds to the list only contacts that already have a profile in Klaviyo, and never creates new ones.
