Email aliases

Most companies receive mail on addresses that aren't a person: groups like info@ or sales@, role mailboxes, shared mailboxes and distribution lists. Aliases lists them with the people who receive their mail, so Brain knows that a message to sales@ reached the sales team.

You find it under Brain > People > Aliases. With Google Workspace connected in Connections, Brain reads your groups and their members every night. Without it, Brain detects aliases from your internal contacts.

Read the aliases list

The title of the page counts your company addresses and says where they come from, or that no directory is connected.

ColumnWhat it shows
AddressThe shared email address.
NameThe name of the group or mailbox.
KindGroup, Alias, Shared mailbox or Distribution list.
PeopleThe members. A member who is a contact in Brain is a link to their contact page. Owners and managers of the group are marked as such.
SourceGoogle Workspace, Microsoft 365, Detected (found among your internal contacts) or Manual.
SyncedWhen the alias was last read.

Use Search aliases or people to find an address, or every group a person belongs to.

Sync aliases now

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Brain > People > Aliases.
  2. Click Sync now.

A message confirms how many groups and members were read, and how many aliases were detected. If the groups can't be read, the page title says why.

Considerations for aliases

  • Aliases are never people: they don't appear in Team, and Brain doesn't treat them as colleagues.
  • When nothing is listed, the page says No aliases yet — connect Google Workspace or run Sync now.
  • To change the members of a group, change it in Google Workspace. The change reaches Brain with the next sync.
