Branding, domains and senders

Two settings decide how your company appears to people outside it. Branding sets the look of the public pages they open, such as your booking page. Domains & authentication makes sure the emails Brain sends for you, such as quotes and contracts, come from addresses that mailbox providers trust.

Both are tabs of Brain > Settings > Company.

Set your branding

Your logo and company name come from your company record. On this page you choose the rest, and a preview shows the booking page as you edit.

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Brain > Settings > Company > Branding.
  2. In Brand colour, enter a hex value such as #4f46e5. It colors the top bar, the selected day and the confirm button. Click Neutral to leave the page without a brand color.
  3. In Tagline, write one line to show under the logo, such as Digital agency since 2010.
  4. In Website, enter your company site, starting with https://.
  5. Click Save.
Tip
Upload a dark version of your logo on your company record: public pages have a light background. Without a logo, the page shows your company name.

Why you authenticate a sender domain

Gmail, Outlook and other mailbox providers only trust emails from domains that prove they are allowed to send them. Domains & authentication checks that every address Brain sends from belongs to an authenticated domain, and warns you about senders that are not covered, whose emails risk landing in spam.

How you authenticate depends on the email connection you set up in Connections: SendGrid, or your own SMTP server.

Authenticate a domain with SendGrid

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Brain > Settings > Company > Domains & authentication.
  2. In SendGrid domain authentication, click Authenticate domain.
  3. Enter your main domain, such as yourcompany.com. Every address on it becomes a valid sender.
  4. Click Create records. Brain shows three DNS records.
  5. At your DNS provider, add the three records. Use the copy buttons next to each Host and Value.
  6. Back in Brain, click Validate.

Each record shows valid or pending. When every record is valid, the domain shows Verified. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to be seen.

Check your domain with your own SMTP server

When you send through your own SMTP server, your IT team manages the DNS records. Brain checks them read-only in DNS authentication check: SPF and DMARC must be present, and DKIM is detected automatically. Each shows Found or Missing.

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Brain > Settings > Company > Domains & authentication.
  2. Click Step-by-step guide for your IT (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and then Copy guide to send. Send it to your IT team as it is.
  3. Once they have published the records, click Recheck.

Add a configured sender

Configured senders lists the addresses your emails can come from: the default address of your email connection, plus any sender you add.

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Brain > Settings > Company > Domains & authentication.
  2. In Configured senders, click Add sender.
  3. Enter the From address and the Display name.
  4. Optional: enter a Reply-to (optional) address.
  5. In Applies to, select All templates (default sender), or one email template.
  6. Click Add sender.

A sender for All templates replaces the connection's default address for every email without a sender of its own. A sender set for one template applies to that template only. Each row shows whether the sender's domain is Authenticated or Not authenticated.

Note
Removing a sender makes the templates that used it fall back to the default sender. Emails already sent stay in the delivery log.
