Sales and discounts

Discounts are managed as sale price lists, in Catalog > Catalog > Pricing; there's no separate promotions page. A sale list sits on top of a base list: products sell at the sale price and show the base price as the compare-at price.

A sale prices products through an ordered list of discount rules. The first rule that matches a product wins, and a price typed in the grid beats any rule.

Note
You need the owner or admin role to create a sale, to save changes to it and to delete it.

Create a sale

Steps

  1. In Nucleo, go to Catalog > Catalog > Pricing.
  2. Click Add price list.
  3. Under Type, select Sale — time-boxed discounts.
  4. Enter a Name.
  5. Under Discounts apply to, pick the base list. The sale takes its currency and full prices from there.
  6. Click Create list.

A message confirms Sale list created and the sale appears in Pricing. Click it to add its rules and its window. The base list and the currency of a sale can't be changed afterwards.

Note
If you have no base list yet, create one first: a sale always sits on a base list.

Set the sale window

Steps

  1. Open the sale.
  2. In the Window card on the right, set the From and To dates.
  3. In the Status card above it, pick Active or Draft.
  4. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.

Outside the window, the base list price applies on its own. A sale with no dates is always on. The start can't be after the end.

Add discount rules

Steps

  1. Open the sale. Rules are listed under Discount rules, numbered in priority order.
  2. Click Add rule. A new rule takes every product no earlier rule priced, at 10% off rounded to .90 ending.
  3. Click the rule's name to edit its scope, and enter a Rule name.
  4. Choose what the rule applies to:
    1. Conditions: products matching conditions on Name, SKU, Category, Gender, Colorway, Status, Base price or Model code. Click Add condition for more, and choose whether all of them must match (AND) or any (OR).
    2. Manual pick: the products you tick in the list.
    3. Everything else: every other product in the catalog that no earlier rule priced.
  5. On the rule's row, set the discount: Decrease or Increase, by Percentage or Fixed amount, the amount and the rounding (No rounding, .00 — whole, .90 ending or .95 ending).
  6. Drag the rules by their handle to set priority. The first rule that matches a product wins.
  7. Click Save in the Unsaved changes bar.

Under the scope, Nucleo tells you live how many products the rule prices. To remove a rule, click its remove icon; the removal is saved with the rest. New products that match a rule join the sale as soon as they're created.

Note
A rule with conditions but no condition filled in prices nothing. Amounts are whole numbers, and a percentage decrease goes from 0 to 100.

Review what's in the sale

The Products card of the sale shows the result of the rules on your catalog, 120 products per page, with three tabs:

TabWhat it shows
In saleThe products a rule or an override prices, with Full price, Sale price, Discount and the Rule that applied.
OverridesThe products whose sale price you typed by hand.
ExcludedThe products on the page that no rule matches (No rule matches). They can't be priced by hand.

To set a product's sale price by hand, type it in the grid; clear it to go back to the rule. Select products and use Revert to rule to clear several overrides at once, then click Save.

Note
Counts and tabs refer to the page you're on. With unsaved changes you can't change page or search: save or discard first.

Decide which sale wins when sales overlap

Sales never add up: a product gets one sale price at a time. When two sales overlap in time, Priority in the Combinations card on the right decides which one prices each product. The card lists the sales this one overlaps.

SettingWhat it does
PriorityA number from 0 to 9999. When sales overlap, the higher priority prices each product; products it doesn't cover fall through to the next sale.

Delete a sale

Steps

  1. Open the sale.
  2. Click More actions > Delete sale list.
  3. Confirm with Delete sale list.

The sale and its rules are deleted, and you go back to Pricing. The base list stays as it is.

Caution
Deleting a sale can't be undone. Nucleo refuses to delete a sale that still holds prices typed by hand: select them, click Revert to rule, save, and delete again.

Considerations for sales

  • Each base list shows its sales under Sales on this list, with their window and a Live, Scheduled, Ended or Always on badge. The badge follows the dates only: check the sale's Status too.
  • Atomo can create a sale from a base list, for a selection of products or for the whole catalog. When the sale starts active, covers the whole catalog or more than 5 products, Atomo shows you the result first and waits for your confirmation. See What Atomo can do in Catalog.
  • Sale prices can also be imported, in the Discounted price column of a product import.
