Site settings

Each site's settings live with the site, under Brain > CMS > your site > Settings. The tab has six cards: Status, Frontend, SSL certificate, Languages, For developers and the Danger zone. Tokens in For developers are covered in Delivery API.

Set the site status

In Status, select Live, Draft or Archived.

Note
The status is informational for now: the delivery API serves published content whatever the site's status.

Connect your frontend

Steps

  1. In the site's Settings tab, find Frontend.
  2. In Public URL, enter the site's public address. Brain uses it for the Open site and View on site links, and for the SSL check.
  3. Optional: in Revalidate URL, enter the address your frontend exposes for refreshing its cache. Brain calls it after every publish, with the site, language and path that changed.
  4. Optional: in Revalidate secret, enter a secret your frontend checks before refreshing. Once saved, it isn't shown again; leave the field empty to keep it, or use Clear the saved secret to remove it.
  5. Click Save.

Watch the SSL certificate

Once the public URL is set, Brain reads the site's certificate every morning and shows its Issuer, Valid until, what it Covers and the Last check. Click Check now to read it straight away.

Turn Automatic renewal on if the certificate renews by itself on the site's server: Admins are then alerted when a renewal is late. With it off, renewal is manual, and Admins are alerted 14 and 7 days before expiry.

StatusWhat it means
ValidNothing to do.
Renewal dueWithin the normal automatic renewal window.
Renewal overdueThe automatic renewal should already have happened.
ExpiringThe certificate expires within a week. Renew it now.
ExpiredBrowsers block the site. Renew it immediately.
InvalidThe certificate doesn't match the address or isn't trusted by browsers.
UnreachableBrain can't reach the site. It may be down, or the DNS may be wrong.
No public URLSet the Public URL in Frontend to enable the check.
UnknownNot checked yet. Click Check now.

Manage languages

Every page and entry gets one translation per language of the site.

Steps

  1. In the site's Settings tab, find Languages.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. To add a language, type its code in Language code, such as en, it or pt-br, and then click Add language.
    2. To change the default language, click Make default next to it.
    3. To remove a language, click Remove next to it, and then confirm.
Caution
Removing a language is permanent: its translations stop being served and can't be recovered from the interface.

Delete a site

Steps

  1. In the site's Settings tab, go to Danger zone.
  2. Click Delete site….
  3. Type the site's slug to confirm.
  4. Click Delete permanently.
Caution
Deleting a site removes its pages, collections, media and tokens, and can't be undone. The delivery API stops serving it at once, and every frontend that uses it breaks.
