Partners and commissions
A partner is a company you work with to win or deliver work: a commercial partner that brings you clients, a development partner that delivers work for you, or both. Brain lets you credit partners on deals and projects and turns their commission rules into a ledger, tranche by tranche, of what is owed and what has been paid.
A company becomes a partner when it has the Partner relationship tag. Its company page then shows a Partner card. The report across all partners is under Brain > Settings > Company > Partner commissions.
Set up a partner
Steps
- In Nucleo, go to Brain > Companies, and then click the company.
- Add the Partner tag. See Edit relationship tags.
- In the Partner card, switch on Commercial partner (brings clients), Development partner (delivers work), or both.
The change is saved as soon as you switch it.
Add a commission rule
Each partner has an ordered list of commission rules. For each tranche of the ledger, the first active rule that matches, in priority order, sets the commission.
Steps
- In Nucleo, go to Brain > Companies, and then click the partner.
- In the Partner card, under Commission rules, click Add rule.
- Enter a Label, such as
20% of the revenue collected on referred projects. - Choose the direction: We pay the partner or Partner pays us.
- Choose the base: Revenue collected (ledger tranches paid), Signed contract value, Deal won value or Project budget.
- In Type, choose Percent or Fixed amount (€), and enter the Amount (€) or percentage.
- Optional: limit the rule to an amount range with From amount (€, optional) and Up to amount (€, optional).
- Optional: add Notes (optional), such as
Paid within 30 days of the client payment. - Click Add rule.
Use the switch on each rule to make it active or pause it, and the remove icon to delete it. Existing ledger tranches keep their percentage; future tranches use the next matching rule.
Let Brain propose rules from the contracts
Steps
- In Nucleo, go to Brain > Companies, and then click the partner.
- In the Partner card, click Read contracts with AI.
Brain reads the partner's signed partnership contracts in the background, and proposes the rules within a minute. Proposals arrive paused and marked AI draft — confirm: they count only once you switch them on. Click Show the terms read by the AI to see what Brain read from each contract.
Credit a partner on a deal or project
Steps
- In Nucleo, open the deal from Brain > Deals, or the project from Brain > Projects.
- In the Partner attribution card, search for the partner in Search partner company… and select it.
- Set the partner's quota as a percentage. To split the credit, add more partners: the card warns you if the quotas add up to more than 100%.
- Click Save attribution.
Use the commission ledger
The Commission ledger in the partner's card has one line per tranche of each signed contract of the deals credited to the partner, with the commission of each tranche. Totals show the Contracts, the Total commission and what is Accrued (client paid).
- Set the date in Paid by client when the client pays the tranche, and in Paid to partner when the partner is paid. The line then shows Waiting for client, Due to partner or Settled.
- To split a contract billed in instalments, choose the contract above the ledger, set the number of tranches and click Split. Paid tranches are kept and the remainder is split equally.
- To remove an unpaid tranche, click its remove icon and confirm. Split the contract again to rebuild it.
Read the commissions report
Steps
- In Nucleo, go to Brain > Settings > Company > Partner commissions. You can also click Commissions report → next to the commission ledger of any partner.
- Read the table: Partner, Type (commercial, development or both), Incoming, Outgoing and Matched. The header shows the totals on each side.
- Optional: search for a partner, or click Export to download the table as a CSV file.
