Using Atomo

Atomo lives in the same place in every module: the lime button with the Atomo mark in the bottom-right corner of the page, Ask Atomo. The panel slides in on the right and the page narrows to make room, so you can keep working on the page while you talk to Atomo.

Note
Atomo works in Brain and in Catalog. In Commerce, in Intelligence and in Catalog's Feeds the button is there too, but Atomo doesn't work on those areas' data yet. See What Atomo can do.

Open and close Atomo

Steps

  1. Click Ask Atomo, the lime button in the bottom-right corner of the page.
  2. To close the panel, click the X in its header, or press Esc.

Every time you open Atomo, it starts a new chat. Your previous chats are kept in History.

Write to Atomo

Steps

  1. Open Atomo.
  2. Optional: on an empty chat, click one of the suggested shortcuts. They change with the page you're on.
  3. Type your question or request in the box at the bottom. Press Shift+Enter to start a new line.
  4. Press Enter, or click the send button.

Atomo answers in the panel, in the language of your profile. When it has done something, it tells you in one sentence what changed, and the page on the left opens on the result.

  • Next to Atomo's name, above each answer, small chips show what it used: the tools it ran, web search when it looked something up online, code when it ran a calculation.
  • When an answer relies on a file you attached or on a website, Sources under the answer lists them, with the page of the document where it applies.
  • When Atomo proposes a few ways forward, it shows them as buttons under its answer. Click one to reply with it, or write your own answer.
  • When Atomo needs your approval, it shows a card with what it's about to do and Confirm and Cancel. See What Atomo can do.
  • When Atomo prepares a file, such as an export of products, a download button appears in its answer.
Tip
Atomo knows which page you're on. On a product or a contact, you can simply say translate the description into Italian or add a note, without repeating which record you mean.

Attach files

In Catalog, you can give Atomo files to read together with your message: photos, PDFs, spreadsheets and texts. For example, attach a supplier's price list and ask Atomo to create the products in it, or a product sheet and ask it to fill in the attributes.

Steps

  1. Open Atomo from a page in Catalog.
  2. Click the paperclip, Attach photos, PDFs or sheets, and choose the files. You can also drag the files onto the panel and drop them when Drop the files here appears.
  3. Wait until each file shows as ready under the message box. For a spreadsheet, Nucleo shows how many rows it read.
  4. Type what you want Atomo to do with the files, then press Enter. If you send without text, Atomo receives Look at these files.
FileFormatsLargest file
PhotosJPG, PNG, WebP, GIF5 MB
DocumentsPDF15 MB
SpreadsheetsCSV, TSV, Excel8 MB
TextsTXT, Markdown1 MB
  • You can attach up to 5 files to a message. To remove one before sending, click the X next to its name.
  • Of an Excel workbook, Atomo reads only the first sheet. Of any spreadsheet, it reads the first 2,000 rows and 80 columns.
  • When Atomo is about to create products from a file, it shows them as Products to create, with each row Ready or To fix, before anything is created. See What Atomo can do in Catalog.
Note
Attachments work in Catalog. In Brain, the message box doesn't offer the paperclip.

Open a view Atomo composes

In Catalog, when an answer is easier to read as a table or a chart, Atomo composes a view. The view opens in a large card next to the chat, over the page, which stays where it is, blurred.

The card says Generated by Atomo with the time, then the view's title and a one-line summary. In its header:

ButtonWhat it does
PinKeeps the view: pinned views come first in History. Click Unpin to undo.
Export CSVDownloads the products in the view. Shown only when the view lists products.
Open as pageOpens the view as a full page of its own, in Catalog.
XCloses the view. You can also press Esc, or click the blurred page.

To open a view again later, click History in the Atomo panel: views are listed under Atomo views, before your conversations.

Note
Moving to another page closes the view: it was the answer to a question asked on the page you were on.

Dictate a message

Dictation turns what you say into text in the message box, so you can check it before sending.

Steps

  1. Open Atomo.
  2. Click the microphone icon, Dictate the message, and speak.
  3. Click the icon again (Stop dictation) to stop. The text appears in the message box.
  4. Correct the text if needed, then press Enter to send it.

Talk to Atomo

In a voice conversation you speak and Atomo answers out loud, like a phone call. Everything that's said also stays written in the chat. Voice conversations work in Brain and in Catalog.

Steps

  1. Open Atomo. Leave the message box empty: the send button becomes Talk to Atomo.
  2. Click Talk to Atomo. The first time, allow the browser to use your microphone.
  3. Speak. Atomo answers when you pause.
  4. Optional: while Atomo is answering, click the square, Interrupt, to stop it and speak.
  5. To finish, click End the conversation, or close the panel.
  • If Atomo doesn't hear anything for a while, it pauses the conversation. Click Talk to Atomo again to resume.
  • Long answers are shortened out loud. Atomo tells you when the details are in the chat.

Choose the language you speak

Atomo listens in the language of your profile by default. If you want to speak in another language, change it next to the message box.

Steps

  1. Open Atomo.
  2. Click the two-letter language code next to the microphone, for example EN.
  3. Under Language you speak, select Italian, English, French, German or Spanish.

The same menu, under Atomo's voice, lets you choose between two voices for the conversation: the natural conversation voice and the previous one. Your choices are remembered in this browser.

Find a previous conversation

Atomo saves your chats for each module and each company. The chats you had in Catalog are listed in Catalog, and the ones you had in Brain are listed in Brain.

Steps

  1. Open Atomo.
  2. In the panel header, click History. In Catalog, the views Atomo composed come first, under Atomo views, then your chats under Conversations, each with its title, the areas it touched and its date.
  3. Do one of the following:
    1. Click a chat to reopen it and continue where you left off.
    2. To delete a chat, click its trash icon, then confirm.
    3. In Brain, to rename a chat, click its rename icon, type the new title and save.

To leave a chat and start from scratch, click New chat in the panel header.

Caution
Deleting a chat can't be undone. Changes Atomo made during that chat stay in place.

Considerations for using Atomo

  • Voice needs microphone access. If the browser blocks it, Atomo shows The microphone is blocked: allow the microphone for app.nucleoplatform.com in your browser settings and try again.
  • The voice buttons appear only in browsers that support speech. If you don't see them, try another up-to-date browser.
  • Closing the panel stops a voice conversation and turns off the microphone.
  • If you close the panel or start a new chat while Atomo is still answering, the answer is interrupted and isn't saved in the history.
  • If your company administrators turn Atomo off, or the company reaches its monthly limit, Atomo answers with a message saying so instead. See Atomo settings for your company.
  • Atomo is AI: check important answers before relying on them, especially figures and anything you'll send to customers.
