Inventory counts

Stock counts is where a store runs a physical count: one count per location, organized in zones — the floor, the stockroom, the window — then compared with the stock in Shopify before the counted quantities are written back. You find it under Commerce > Stores > Stock > Stock counts; the page is called Inventory count.

Caution
Stock counts are an early version. Counts are kept only in your browser session: if you close the tab or switch device they're lost, and colleagues don't see them. In a new session the list also shows a few example counts that aren't yours. Update on Shopify, on the other hand, writes real stock to your Shopify location. Before using counts for a real stock take, plan it with the Nucleo team.

How a count works

StepWhat happens
New inventory countYou choose the Location and the Type — Full for the whole store, or Partial (cycle) for a subgroup such as Men, Women or Accessories in Subgroup (optional) — then click Create count. The Staff member is you.
Count by zoneYou scan barcodes, or type in Search or scan products, into the active zone; each scan adds one unit. Add zone starts another zone.
ReconciliationCounted against the quantity on Shopify, variant by variant. A non-zero Δ is the adjustment that will be written.
Complete countThe button at the top of the count. It locks the count, which can't be reopened.
Force update inventoryIn More actions, once the count is completed. After you confirm with Update on Shopify, it writes the counted quantities to the location in Shopify. It can be done only once.

What Update on Shopify changes

TypeWhat is written to Shopify
FullEvery product of the location. Items still in stock in Shopify but not in the count are set to zero. If a counted item isn't found on Shopify, nothing is sent: Nucleo lists the missing SKUs and the count stays ready to send.
Partial (cycle)Only the items you counted. Counted items not found on Shopify are skipped and listed in the result.
Caution
Update on Shopify changes live stock and can't be undone from Nucleo. A Full count with a zone left uncounted sets that stock to zero.
